5 summer actions that hurt you

11/08/2020
  • You wanted to rest, right? Well, don't ruin it with these 5 vacation actions that hurt you a lot on a personal level. Be careful!

  • Now that you have managed to have a summer break, despite being an entrepreneur, it makes no sense to carry all those bad habits acquired after so many months of work with you.

This period will require a certain detox and a change of mind. If you don't, you run the risk of turning what should be a break into a source of additional stress and dissatisfaction, thereby achieving the opposite of what you were seeking for.
  • Which are the five summer actions that hurt you most?

  • You will see that they are simple things that you may have thought almost without noticing. They seem insignificant, but their effect is much greater than you might guess, and you end up paying the consequences when your days off are over. You will argue with your environment and you will not rest ... but the worst thing is that you will not get work done either
  • #1 – Being always connected to mobile phone

  • Surely this is what is going to be more difficult for you you because, in the end, the mobile is not only a tool for work. These devices are used in a transversal way in our day to day.

During holidays, our camera, GPS, translator ... that is why we use them frequently. The problem is that we usually take the opportunity to check email or follow up on a conversation or a task.

If you leave for a week, you can do without email. Try log off the account from the application. At first, it generates some anxiety, but you will really rest as soon as notifications are disabled.

If this is not realistic for you, you should at least limit your inquiries to one time of day. Don't be connected all the time.
  • #2 – Get up at the same time (setting the alarm)

  • Although it is true that our body seems to have memory (circadian rhythms, for example), you should try to sleep all necessary hours. This is one of the best possible therapies against exhaustion and stress, as well as being one of the pillars of self-care.

Setting your alarm at the same time every day can give you a couple of hours to work before having the whole family ready to go on a hike, but you will not keep your energy level going - you will be irritable and tired.
  • #3 – Holidays with wifi

  • If from the first moment you are worried about finding a hotel with a good Internet connection, or a very cute rural house in a village but with coverage and a place for you and your laptop, you are actually presenting a true statement of intent

I understand that the idea of total disconnection may not sound realistic and that you will need to attend to professional issues at some point. But in reality there are many fewer questions than we consider essential and the really urgent ones can be solved on the phone

Prioritize rest over work. They are only a few days and they will help you to really charge your batteries.
  • #4 – Implement ideas

  • Please, stop. I fully understand that vacations are particularly productive in terms of business ideas, solutions to reorganize, management changes, new opportunities ... The entrepreneur's head never stops

Another thing is that, moved by that hyperactivity, you jump directly to implement all those ideas. This is simply not the time, let yourself think through them, take a dive in the pool or have a drink in the sun. Going back to work is much closer than it seems and then you will have time to do it.
  • #5 – Living mentally in work mode

  • In the end, the 5 vacation actions that hurt you can be summarized in the latter. Living mentally in work mode implies that any other activity that you are going to develop these days seems like an interruption in your work life, with all that that implies and the effect it has on our character
  • You have to see it in a totally opposite way since, in reality, whatever time you dedicate to work you are taking it away from your family, your friends and, ultimately, from yourself

Make that effort: disconnect your mobile, learn to delegate, postpone tasks that are not essential and enjoy a well-deserved break. Do not feel guilty about it because, if you get it right, your productivity will be much higher the rest of the year
  • Do you also make this mistakes in summer? What is your Achilles heel?Share your thoughts and let´s avoid them!
