What is 5G?

It is the fifth generation of mobile Internet connectivity. 

Nowadays, almost all users enjoy 4G connection which represented a leap of quality and, above all, speed over previous generations. 4G uses LTE technology which has been standardized and was a remarkable breakthrough. 

This will be another big step forward. It will keep all the features of the previous generation but greatly increasing the speed when uploading and downloading information to the Internet. 

To have an idea, in normal conditions a 4 G terminal has an average download speed  of 1 Gigabit per second, the same phone through 5G multiplies its download capacity by 10. Therefore, it arrives at 10 Gigabits per second. This allows you to download large files almost instantly. 

For anyone working on Internet it will be a small revolution. Users will move from riding a scooter to riding a powerful motorcycle.
 

This jump was essential because the number of devices grows year after year. The Internet of things allows not only phones to be connected, also, a greater bandwidth for new services like streaming in 4k and 3D video is needed. 

Both at search engine and user experience, the situation is going to improve very much. To Google loading speed is a factor of organic ranking and, seeing that users especially connect through their mobile phones, their strategy has turned to what they have called mobile first index.
