  • How important it is to have a well designed website! Especially if what you want to do is to sell more and better. In this post we are going to talk about the trends in website design in 2018 that will rock this year, something we have already done previously This will allow you to have a website truly on trend. Are you ready?
  • Why should I be worried about my wbesite design?

  • Many internet professionals make the mistake of overlooking the design or copies them from pages. They focus on getting the web have certain functions or fulfil certain to standards. If you are one of them, I have to tell you that you are ignoring a critical part of your online business.

I would like to clarify that for me, a website with good design is not necessarily the most beautiful in the world: it is the one that has a more efficient design and connect with its target audience. When we speak about this discipline, we should keep in mind that design works to

    • Build trust: this is basic on internet, a bad design can be caused by malfunction, a bad product and, in the worst case, make others be suspicious of the legitimacy of the business.
    • Enhance usability and accessibility: on the web, the user has to interact with the interface without help. Good design is that which will eliminate barriers (insufficient contrasts, sizes that impede visibility, visually ambiguous elements...) and frictions in the interaction.
    • Differentiate ourselves: in an increasingly competitive environment, the importance of differentiation is key. Good design helps the user identify and remind us, and also makes us stand out the crowd.

In Oleoshop we have all this very clear and therefore we are constantly working to improve your store designs.
  • Top trends in web design 2018

  • Made this clarification/recommendation, we going to get started with with those trends in web design f2018
  • #1 - Mobile First

  • We have talked a lot about this topic, but every year that passes mobile is consolidating more and more as the preferred device by users to browse (and also for search engines). In a short time, we have moved from Mobile Friendly to Mobile First, which means it is already being designed thinking in mobile, rather than on desktop, which is losing importance.

The organization of menus and submenus in the drop-down menu are already a standard that has solved many problems of navigation as users have embraced and assimilated.

It is also important, as individual web design in Mobile First, the use of vector icons instead of large photographs. This has the added advantage of be clearer in its interpretation by the user.
  • #2 – Animation and illustration

  • Within this search for differentiation and paying attention to the needs of economy of space and download speed download, we found that photographs are less efficient than graphics, and videos do not integrate as well as animations with the content.

Going to an Illustrator capable of animating their creations is a fantastic idea. Ah hoc made animations give own personality to websites. At the same time, they stimulate them and help focus on the major concepts.

In 2018 we will see more illustrated and animated websites.
  • #3 – Less common layouts

  • When we think of a website from scratch, we have the structure of the design very clear. Here goes the slider, below three content boxes perfectly aligned. Design in two-three columns, perhaps a sidebar... all very organized and aligned.

In 2018 it seems that it has come asymmetry in design, and we will see many websites breaking the lines of this invisible grid. Also the arrangement of the elements will be less regular
  • #4 – Typography rules again

  • As screens were smaller, types tended to simplify their lines for the sake of readability. But new devices are equipped with very high resolution displays, brightness and contrast, which we can return to play with types like sheriff or somewhat more complex

We must not forget another trend in design for 2018 related to this issue: custom fonts, which consist of using non-commercial fonts, which gives us a certain margin of differentiation.

However, this must done with great discretion, because otherwise it can become confusing and weighing on visibility

By the way: type designs with large characters are also trend. Dare to give them prominence.
  • #5 – Extreme and lively colors

  • From some years now all websites seem to agree to use pastel color schemes, so soft that they are slight brush-strokes, very light color masses.

This seems to be changing since the end of last year. Many designers are using much more extreme color schemes, radical and highly contrasted.
  • There are more trends. Some will arrive to stay and others will last very little, but these are the Top trends in web design 2018. What do you think? Do you get into the act?
