All you need to know before starting an online shop

25/09/2014
  • Hello!

You have already made up your mind and know which target you will lead to, sell products and know the movements of your competition in detail; Now you can launch your online business.

Think that setting up a business is relatively easy, but taking action is what really matters, and it isn´t easy.

At this point, let me explain you what, in my opinion, are the three basic axes of any online business:

The first and essential axis is your website. It can be a blog, a space within a marketplace or online shop. It´s the first core of any online strategy and where you have to address your audience.

It will always have to be updated, in detail and ready for the needs of the users, and succeed in getting them to the next step: the purchase of your products.

This first axis is basic and essential but, in many projects, is what is the most important part of the budget, and it shouldn´t be like this
  • We tend to create a large aircraft carrier when, in fact, with a small boat we would have far enough in the first years of business.
  • We tend to create a large aircraft carrier when, in fact, with a small boat we would have far enough in the first years of business.

Nowadays, there´re tools like Wordpress or Oleoshop so that with little budget, you can create your website or your online shop  and start selling professionally.

Definetely you've heard the quote Content is the King

Yes, here you have, the second large axis is content. You can have a great online shop but it won´t work without relevant content.

Get pictures at good resolution and from many angles as possible. Write interesting product reviews, and recommend them according to your opinion. Get customer reviews whose authors are happy with you and show them as testimonials of your job very done. Write articles about your products and focus them on the needs of your target audience.
  • You have to focus your efforts to provide unique and and interesting content , very detailed and of quality.
  • Only in this way, your visitors will have enough reasons to return and recommend you to a friend.

So: write and do it well.

And last but not least, the third axis is communication. Now you have your website, with a good design, with interesting content  and eye-catching, but if nobody knows it you won´t get anywhere.

Here is where you should focus the last efforts : on promotion

Promote means to advertize your business in social networks, investing on SEO (positioning), Facebook Ads, work on your contacts, work on your link building, investing on GoogleAdwords,...in short: reach your target audience.

When you get that your target audience is directed to your website or online shop and view your content, everything starts to make sense. Your previous online strategy will have begun to bear fruit. Be patient, this process isn´t effective in two days, but if you do well, following a timing and content is interesting, it will work.

If you consider these three you´ll be able to plan your business with a more realistic perspective and your website, blog or shop online will have more chances to succeed.

I hope my tips have helped you.

    Next soon!
