Coronavirus: what to take into account after holidays(2)

18/08/2020
  • Back to school ... what about our business? We analyze the things to take into account when holidays are over during coronavirus.

  • In the previous part of this series of posts we focused on some actions to take in terms of prevention and adaptation to the new reality that we have to live. But we still have a lot to talk about.
  • What to keep in mind when you are back from vacation

  • It is being difficult at all levels, from the emotional to the strictly financial, but we can and must adapt because ... you know what? we are going to get out of all this.

Instead of seeing it as a huge challenge, it is easier if we break it into smaller tasks and attitudes that we can apply, implement and solve
  • #1 – Combat post-vacation stress

  • If coming back from vacation you have taken is hard any year, this will predictably be more complicated because of what we have gone through as a result of coronavirus and the uncertainty of what is to come.

You already know the symptoms: irritability, apathy, anxiety and, somehow, a small professional crisis in which you think that what you would like is to go live in the countryside and have goats (but deep down you love what you do) .

The basic advice is to step into the routine gradually. Do not come back on a Sunday night and wake up the following Monday at 6 in the morning having a coffee with the idea of starting to work. This is the best way to feel tremendously miserable

Give yourself sometime, start small. Thanks to teleworking, assuming a few days of intensive work is not going to have as much impact.

Apart from that, remember something basic: self-care. Eat well, rest and relax a little by shortening the day when appropriate. Do not try to do in one day everything that you have put off after holidays.
  • #2 – Implement new ideas

  • Surely during holidays you have come up with many new ideas for your business. The truth is that most of us do

Facing an unstable future, nothing helps more than having a plan. Although it sounds exaggerated, preparing Christmas campaigns in summer, it is a good policy to take advantage of a time of less activity to download another that will be busy.

We hope a new lockdown does not come; But, just in case, it does not hurt to work on some of those niches that work during lockdown and incorporate them into our business.
  • #3 – Get your online store ready

  • Having said the, if we add the fact that Christmas campaign and Black Friday are still critical points for most stores, it is essential that you get your online store ready

You already know that at Oleoshop we can help you create your store or adapt it with what you need.

Make sure you have the best possible version, updated and ready to absorb the traffic to come without fail. Surely, this year, with the limitations of retail, people will be less likely to go to shopping centers and physical store areas to avoid crowds
  • #4 – Balance and optimize channels

  • We have already said that multichannel is one of the most efficient ways to reach our customers by all possible means and adapt to their way of interacting with the company.

Implementing an omnichannel strategy, therefore, is always positive. What happens is that we are facing a perspective in which we must adjust the importance we give to each of the channels

We must not only prepare our eCommerce, as we said before. It is also important that we balance the investment in acquisition to digital platforms such as Facebook and Google Ads, we enhance the presence in social networks, we make the most of email marketing, we take care of the recurring customers of each channel ... Retail is still important, but it is not its peak right now.
  • #5 – Control investments

  • Regardless of how everything that has happened in 2020 has affected you economically, we are at a time when each euro that is invested must be rationalized a lot
  • Consider the investments that are strictly necessary and ensure that the amortization is quick so that you are not limited later if you need financing at a critical time.

With these 5 tips, added to those that we already advanced in the previous post of the series, you can have a much clearer idea of where you are and what you have to do in September
  • What will your tactic be? What are you going to take into account when you are back from vacation to make it more bearable? Share your thoughts with us!
